The book "Roman" was created to honour Desirée's late grandfather, Roman Kisil. During the creation of this project, her grandfather was still alive, fighting hard against a tough battle of cancer. She had the idea to create a visual book filled with pictures that described what a fight against cancer looked like through the eyes of family members. Daily photos paired with actual journal entries from Desirée's personal journal allowed this book to be a sought-after family treasure to keep the memories of his last few months alive even after he was no longer with the family.
